Lifeblood of the Motor

Changing your oil on a regular basis and using a premium synthetic motor oil is the best way to ensure optimal engine performance and durability. Synthetic oil flows better when cold resulting in optimal start- up protection, and also performs better at high temperatures. It resists breakdown for longer engine protection allowing for extended change intervals and reduces internal engine friction so you get better fuel mileage and increased engine output.

Make It Cooler

Transmission fluid may be the most multi-purpose liquid in your vehicle because it provides the hydraulic pressure needed for gearbox operation and also lubricates and cools the unit. Hydraulic pressure developed by the transmission pump activates bands and clutches to control planetary gears and shift the transmission. An oil cooler that is either separate or part of the radiator is used to transfer heat from the transmission fluid. This liquid should be changed at the intervals recommended by the automaker, more often if the vehicle is used for towing or often driven in stop-and-go traffic.

Thicker Than Water

Antifreeze is mixed with water to form the coolant that circulates throughout the cooling system. Water transfers heat better than coolant, but its freezing point is too high for winter use, and boiling point too low to ensure efficient engine operation. Plus it would promote rust and corrosion in the cooling system. Antifreeze is about 90% ethylene glycol, and a 50/50 mixture of glycol and water provides freezing protection down to -34°F (-36.7°C) and boiling protection up to 265°F (129°C). The remaining percentage of antifreeze is made up of additives that prevent corrosion and lubricate pump seals.

Lubrication and Protection
